 An enterprise is like a family that grows as time goes by. Though Tong Yeng has been in the business for 48 years, it is just in its middle age when comparing to those century-old enterprises in advanced countries. With the long term support from consumers and dedication of employees. Tong Yeng has successfully survived economic crises in Asia.
 Though I have been in the food industry for nearly half a century, things have changed and we must face the world with new concepts, new thoughts and new actions, in order to cope with the quick changes in the world. When technology, international capital, enterprise scale and manpower quality are improving everyday, a miss in critical moments will immediately let competitors be ahead of us. Hence, to survive in such an unprecedented competition and to remain competitive in the future have become the most important mission of all leaders. However, no matter what turns out to be, there are some fundamentals that will never change.

1. Core Value…Tong Yeng is a professional marine product processing company specializing in canned marine products. We want to be the best of the business past, present and future, so that all consumers, the society, employees and shareholders will be benefited from our excellent operations.
2. Quality…The idea of quality comes from USA and burgeons in Japan. Quality management is very important in Japan, which enables Japan’s consumer products sweep all over the world. “Quality is the best salesperson”, “quality is something to build than to check”, and “the right thing at the first time” are slogans that everyone in industry can tell. Tong Yeng never compromises with quality, from material procurement to acceptance and process management, we have a strict process and a set of uncompromising standards, in order to make all products satisfy the demand of customers and contain excellent cost/performance value.

 
 

3. Marketing…There are thousands of food products in the market, and marketing is the key to let consumers choose Tong Yeng products. The use of differential marketing is always a good way to avoid cutthroat competition, for it enables consumers to identify the superior quality, taste, package, advertisement, corporate image, service and marketing channels of Tong Yeng. Therefore, Tong Yeng is a representation of safety, health and taste, and brand loyalty.
4. Innovation…Conservatism is something not suitable for the 21st century, when everything is moving faster than before. High-tech industries introduce new products to market faster and faster, and so do traditional industries. Therefore, I keep reminding colleagues that “innovation” has become a common concept in operations. Products, packages, channels, organizations and methods all need innovation, and that is the only way to keep an enterprise going. The idea that we can live on one product has become something in the history.
5. Personnel training…The rise of free trade zones and the establishment of the WTO have intensified contacts among nations, people and enterprises. Internationalization and globalization have become an irrevocable trend. Besides local competitors, enterprises are needed to face impacts from foreign products. Cost reduction and market expansion are the common solutions. Once we want internationalization, globalization and foreign investment, staffing is a primary concern. Nowadays, capital and equipment are not obstacles of operations anymore, staff is one of the toughest problems. Human resources have become the most important corporate assets, and leaders must make smart use of human resources and recruit adequate manpower. Orientation and on the job training for employees must be properly enforced, and the length of training for employees of different levels must be stated. We need to encourage employees to learn, in order to make lifelong learning a part of our tradition.
6. R&D…R&D is the key to success of all big companies. However, R&D requires manpower, equipment and fund, R&D was weak in marine product processing; therefore, we must mend it as soon as possible. In my opinions, besides improving the quality of our R&D department, cooperation with leading R&D institutions will be very important. That is the way to shorten the process. Biotechnology is a star in the future, if we can combine food industry to biotechnology, we can expand the market without boundary. Therefore, R&D is the only way to upgrade business and to be ahead of competitors. 
   There is no total solution for operations, and we are ready for the quick changes and keen competitions in front of us. On one hand, we provide the best products and services through the most channels possible, so that consumers can enjoy our quality products anytime anywhere; on the other hand, I will take all colleagues to walk out of Taiwan. Attack is the best way to defend, and moving westward to China will be only way to keep Tong Yeng going and growing toward a better future.
