Air, water and sunshine are the three elements of lives on Earth. The industrial revolution in the 18th century has changed the original form of Earth. Soil, rivers and ocean are contaminated, and bio-safety has become the issue of all kinds. Over logging in slope areas and tropical rain forests makes floods easier to occur and threatens biodiversity. The number of animal habitats drops, and many of them become endangered species or even extinct. All kinds of hazardous gases are produced in urban and industrial areas and endanger human health when transported in the air and cause the greenhouse effect. The broken hole in the ozone layer in South Pole even brings tremendous changes to Earth’s climate.
Environmentalists have been calling for international cooperation and international agreements and protocols have been signed to save our Earth.
As a member of the global village, Tong Yeng never avoids its responsibility for environmental protection. Therefore, we invested a sum amounted to about 30% of the registered capital for environmental facilities in 1992 according to the practice in advanced countries and headed toward green design, clean production, industrial waste reduction, pollution prevention, resources recycle, and green marketing. After a few years’ efforts, stench assessment and waste reduction of Tong Yeng have passed the government requirements. The achievement in effluent treatment has even successfully reduced water pollution. The BOD, COD and SS values are all superior to the government requirements by over 65%. The efforts of Tong Yeng were thus rewarded by the citation from the I-LAN Hsien Government in 1999, and it has become one of the top ten model manufacturers in environmental protection. More importantly, we are the manufacturer with the lowest registered capital among other nine award winners, and that illustrated Tong Yeng’s determination in environmental protection.
We wholeheartedly wish to make I-LAN better for our younger generations, and we want to resume the island into a Formosa and set a new model of industrial nations in Asia.
